Keep at least one assault transport on standby to redeploy reinforcements during the capture phase, because a wiped landing force with no respawn route loses the siege even with batteries down.

Managing Supply Lines and Siege Costs

Sieges are expensive, and a fleet that runs out of ammunition or repair material mid-assault loses even with a tactical advantage. Each bombardment ship should carry enough round and heated shot for roughly forty full broadsides, which is the typical consumption to disable a three battery port. Repair timber should be topped to maximum, with spare kits in the hold for emergency mid-phase repairs. Assault transports need to carry ration crates for the landing force, because a landing force that runs out of rations suffers a stacking morale penalty that reduces capture speed.

Supply lines run from the nearest friendly port, and a smart defender faction will raid those supply convoys to starve the siege.
