Best Farming Route
The most efficient iron farming route starts at Ironpeak Isle. Mine all 15 nodes for 30-45 iron ore. Then sail to Skull Rock Isle for 6 more nodes (12-18 ore). This combined route takes about 20 minutes and yields 42-63 iron ore. If nodes are depleted, wait for respawn (8-10 minutes) or move to Shadowmire Swamp for 8 additional nodes. Avoid Frostbite Cove unless you have Cold Weather gear, as the cold drains health rapidly.
Mining Tips and Tools
- Equip a Steel Pickaxe or better for faster mining (Basic Pickaxe is too slow)
- The Miner perk increases ore yield by 25%
- Mine in a party to clear nodes faster and share respawns
- Iron nodes glow with a metallic sheen, making them easy to spot
- Each node yields 2-3 iron ore per mining attempt

Uses for Iron Ore
Iron ore is smelted into Iron Ingots at any forge. Each Iron Ingot requires 2 iron ore and costs 10 gold in smelting fees. Iron Ingots are used for: Hull Plating (+100 HP, 5 ingots), Cannon manufacturing (10 ingots per cannon), Weapon crafting (3-8 ingots per weapon), Iron Nails for repairs (1 ingot = 5 nails), and trade goods (Iron Ingots sell for 30 gold each). Smelting iron ore into ingots doubles its trade value.
